This week, the Swindon Humanitarian Aid Partnership (SHAP) warmly welcomed members of the Peaceful Heaven of Kharkiv charity from Ukraine. Our guests—Serhii Lina, Alex, and Lana—are actively raising awareness and support for the dire situation in Eastern Ukraine as they tour the UK.
During his welcoming speech, SHAP's Chair Mike Bowden highlighted the impressive milestone the community has achieved—delivering over 2,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Ukraine. He expressed gratitude to everyone's efforts and commitment, which have been pivotal in making a significant difference in the lives of many affected by the conflict. Mike's message underscored the importance of solidarity and the impact of collective effort.
The delegation's visit has also been productive, with meetings at important venues like Holyrood in Edinburgh and the Houses of Parliament in London. Impressively, their influence was felt immediately as their visit coincided with a major political announcement in Westminster.
Their impactful visit was further highlighted in a local radio interview on 4legsradio’s “This Week with Penny,” giving an intimate insight into their daily challenges and resilience. Listen to the emotional discussion from the 33:19 mark here.
Local media, including The Swindonian and Swindon Link, have covered their visit extensively, which has significantly helped in shedding light on their mission.
As SHAP continues to support Ukraine, we remain committed to our mission of delivering aid and making a difference. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved for their support and generosity. Mike’s words serve as a reminder of the profound impact we can have when we come together for a common cause.
